Supplemental Scholarship Application

Maximize Your Consideration for Scholarships

The supplemental Scholarship Application is your key to maximizing your consideration for departmental scholarships as well as leadership and service scholarships. The supplemental Scholarship Application opens October 1 in the "Financial Aid" tab in MyRED for admitted first-year students.

To be considered for these additional scholarships, you must be admitted and submit your supplemental Scholarship Application in MyRED by February 1, 2025. Once you have submitted your application, you can return and update your information at any time prior to the deadline. We encourage you to carefully craft your submission. Details regarding what to expect can be found below.

Submitting the Supplemental Scholarship Application

From October 1, 2024, through February 1, 2025, first-year and transfer admitted students can submit the supplemental Scholarship Application in MyRED.

What to Expect

The supplemental Scholarship Application is customized based on your current declared degree program as most departments use this process to award scholarships to students within their degree programs.

Scholarships are awarded by departments and the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) based on a number of criteria, including cumulative grade point average, ACT/SAT test scores, financial need, a resume of activities and other responses. Not all available scholarship opportunities are major-specific. We want to see who you are and acknowledge you for your accomplishments and character that go beyond the classroom.

Resume of Activities

If you wish to be considered for scholarships based on leadership and activities, you will be asked to attach a resume listing your activities, honors, memberships, leadership positions held, community service/volunteer positions and career goals.

Academics, Experiences and Personal Narratives

Some departments may require you to write a narrative, which could include information about the following:

  • Career/Academic Aspirations: Convey what led you to your major/career choice.
  • Financial Need: Describe your financial circumstances/background that necessitate your request for financial assistance.
  • Self-Reflection: Describe yourself, including your background and interests.
  • Diversity: Detail participation in any activities or organizations that promote or celebrate diversity.
  • Public Service: Detail your involvement in community service.

Note: Once you have submitted your application, you can return and update your information at any time prior to the deadline. If you are not offered a scholarship on the basis of your supplemental Scholarship Application, there is no notification.
